Spinach and Tofu Rice


Eating green is about making healthy and better lifestyle choice. It provides your body a good amount of antioxidants and vitamins. Similarly, the green and protein rich food is also a perfect combination to nourish your body and maintain healthy weight and muscle. Adding Spinach and Tofu rice to your diet can provide enough vitamins and proteins to your body.

Spinach is a nutritious vegetable rich in iron, potassium and magnesium. It has various health benefits to support immune function. And tofu is a better and healthy substitute of paneer to add flavor and protein to your diet. If tofu is not easily available then you can always prefer paneer.It is rich is calcium, protein and perfect choice for children.


Ingredients (Servings for 4)

250 gm of Spinach

150 gm Tofu

1 cup rice

½ teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon ginger and garlic paste

1 medium sized onion

2 medium sized tomatoes

2 teaspoon pulao masala

Salt and Pepper according to taste

Spinach and Tofu/Paneer Rice

Puree the spinach, heat some oil in the cooker or pan and add some cumin seeds and thin sliced onions to saute until it’s fragrant and golden brown.

Add some ginger garlic paste and tomatoes puree to stir, Seasoned with salt, pepper and pulao masala.

Now add pureed spinach and stir for around 5-10 minutes.

Add 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of water and pressure cook on medium flame until one whistle. The amount of water required will depend on the type of rice you are using.

Now stir fry cubes of tofu and seasoned with salt and pepper according to taste.

Garnish the spinach rice with stir fried tofu and cilantro.
