DIY Moisturizer from Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera

It is a very simple recipe where you need to whip Aloe Vera gel with soli coconut oil and use it as your natural DIY moisturizer and lotion. Instead of using plain coconut oil, this homemade lotion feels lighter when applied on your skin.


  • Extra virgin coconut oil
  • Fresh Aloe Vera gel
  • Essential oils
  • A blender
  • Measuring spoon or cup
  • A mixing bowl
  • A glass container for storing
  • Hand or electric whisker


  1. Suppose you have prepared all the ingredients, follow these steps
  2. Scoop out the fresh Aloe Vera gel and use blender to blend it
  3. In a bowl, put ½ cup coconut oil
  4. Add blended Aloe Vera gel into the bowl with coconut oil
  5. Use hand or electric mixer to whisk the mixture for 10 minutes until it creates frosting like consistency
  6. Add few drops of your favorite essential oils like peppermint oil and lavender then continue whisking for a few minutes

Then, transfer the homemade lotion into glass container. Make sure to store it in your fridge so it stays fresh. It lasts for few weeks. You can simply make it again once the container is empty. Use this lotion just like you use any moisturizing lotion by applying it all over the body. The best time to you it is after you take a bath when your skin is still moist.   • Extra virgin coconut oil
  • Fresh Aloe Vera gel
  • Vitamin E oil

  1. First, add 4 tbsp of fresh Aloe Vera gel into blender
  2. Melt 2 tsp extra virgin coconut oil in double boiler or microwave before adding it into the blender
  3. Add ½ tsp of your favorite Vitamin E oil
  4. Blend the mixture in the blender for few minutes
  5. Stir in several drops of your favorite essential oils

Just like the homemade lotion, this homemade DIY moisturizer should be stored in the container and put in the fridge. Every time you want to use it, simply take it out from the fridge and put it back again into the fridge once you are one using. It also makes a great lip moisturizer or shaving lotion to prevent razor burn.


  • Always thoroughly rinse Aloe Vera leaf before you extract the gel
  • In your homemade lotion, you can add 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • Make sure to carefully whisk the coconut recipe so it isn’t too runny
